If all other considerations (time, cost, location) are ideal, the following statement reflects my opinion about the 2008 DMies.

This is a poll.
It is an imperfect way of gathering information but it may be used to gauge whether there is enough interest in continuing to organise this event.

For the purposes of this poll, please do not consider logistical factors or even cost or timing.

'Participate in' is used to refer to nominating, being nominated for, voting and accepting awards.

The poll will be open for a fortnight from today. At the end of that time, we can see what sort of interest there is in the event.
Please respond. (If you want to IM me off the boards about this, please do.)

Other: I will attend but not participate in the DMies if it is an awards ceremony and function. I'd probably even help organising-people out with any nerd-wrangling advice I could offer, but still not otherwise participate.

Although I will attend the DMies whether or not it is an awards ceremony or not, I do like the concept of an awards ceremony. I like it because it adds a bit of excitement to the event. It is that excitement that I think makes it more than just a standard meetup (and justifies getting a bit dressed up).
