31 October ANURPS Games Day

Postby Trithemius on Mon Sep 21, 2009 1:34 pm

By my calculations Saturday October 31 should be the next ANURPS Games Day (actually the next one is probably 26 September... but that might be too soon?)

Assuming this is the case, is anyone else interested in turning up and playing or running something? Game Like A Pirate Day had a pretty good turn-out, so I am guessing that people quite enjoy the odd unusual game now and then! I think we also have a fairly good format worked out too.

So, anyone? Anyone from ANURPS want to correct my date calculations? :)

My calculations agree with yours; it looks like it should be the 31st of October.

And yes! Quite interested. I have a half-baked idea for turning SotC into a supervillain heist game, for example. Also, I believe there are people who'd like to try S7S and/or Penny, so there's those as options.

I was going to suggest a two session Mouse Guard game from me, to give some meat to the GM/Player/GM/Player Turn Cycle. Probably only for 3-4 though, and I'll use pre-grens or will pre-gen some mice.

Maybe I should stop offering games though, so I get to play something? :)

Possibly. That, or offer games that are even weirder than everyone else's, so you get to play stuff.

(This may, at times, result in shaved werewolves.)

Perhaps a Halloween theme motif genre could be adopted.

Ooh. I like this idea, and have already come up with a potential conceit for Penny. :)

And possibly pulp-horror SotC, or something else entirely. Hmm.

Hmm, if I have takers for Mouse Guard (I guess it might be scary? Ala that middle bit of Winter 1152?) then I really want to hear how Dread goes.

Grrr...!

I'd likely go to that, but may have to leave early to get to a game session that evening. I'd do things for anything Vampire or Werewolf, though - haven't satiated my appetite for the genre yet :D

I'd also enjoy a piratesque game, seeing as I missed Pirate Day for some unfathomable reason.

31 October ANURPS Games Day

Postby Trithemius on Mon Oct 12, 2009 8:56 am

By my reckoning:

Luminous Tedium has proffered: Zombie Murder Mystery, and A Penny For My Thoughts.

Watergoesred (in close cooperation with O.L.I. [the Organisation for Lighthearted Interactions?]) has contributed: Dread.

Narayan presents: INSPECTRES.

Trithemius [that's me!] has contributed: Mouse Guard - which will be something like "Five In Darkness" and be about going into Darkheather, the gloomy haunted former-realm of the wicked weasels.

Any more? Any corrections, expansions, retractions, or transmutations?
I'm personally sort of hoping that Dale will come out with one of his Esoterrorist scenarios... >_>

We've just had word that number 1, Swashbucklers of the Seven Skies, is going to be scratched from the October Games Day, and its place will be taken by newcomer Zombie Murder Mystery.

Instead of Dread, I'd rather offer to run Geiger Counter and 44.

Geiger Counter: Cooperative survival horror
The most fun you can have while being eaten.
Geiger Counter is designed to replicate the fun of watching movies (like Alien, Scream, and 28 days later) where most of the main characters eventually die. There's no set premise or menace, we'll make up the game scenario on the day.

It is a story game, so every player works for the good of the overall story rather than the survival of their own character. The threat of the menace builds slowly, everything starts falling apart, and then the threat of the memace falls until its defeated and a few protagonists survive.

    Works best with 4-6 players.
44: A game of automatic fear
Can you survive the robot conspiracy?
During the game, the main characters race against the clock to survive the conspiracy of Section 44. Someone they know has been replaced by a machine. They are afraid because they don’t know how or why. They aren’t sure whom to trust. Most of all they are afraid because they might be replaced next.

    They are right.

    Works best with 4-6 players.
